Falafel with oriental yogurt dip


This summer dish is very quick and easy homemade. Very popular at barbecue parties!

Ingredients for 2-3 people:

400 g canned chickpeas
100 g white onions
2 cloves of garlic
0,5 tsp baking soda powder
2 tsp salt
2 tsp falafel seasoning
1 tsp sweet paprika powder
1 tsp Parisian pepper
3 tsp harissa spice mix
4 tsp dried parsley
approx. 5 tbsp. flour
oil for frying
1 cup yogurt
1 tsp Persian yogurt spice


Drain the chickpeas, mash with a fork or puree in a blender. Peel the onions and dice very finely, the garlic as well. Mix the chickpeas with the falafel seasoning, parsley, onions, garlic, paprika, harissa, salt and bell pepper. Add the baking soda and flour until you have a soft dough that can be easily formed into small balls. Then deep fry them in oil until golden brown. For the yogurt dip, simply mix yogurt with Persian yogurt seasoning, salt and pepper and sprinkle with fresh herbs if desired. Serve with pita bread, preferably fresh from the oven.
